This is the poem Mary read on “Angels on Call” this morning in honor of our 9/11 heroes

Many hearts are left to break,
here, at home, in USA.
Many souls will not return,
a great loss of life to pay.
Parents, sons and daughters,
fighting for that day.
That freedom comes to everyone

and terrorism, held at bay.

We looked at 9/11
with minds completely numb.
How could this ever happen?
How low our world has come.
It took the planet by surprise
and shook us to our core.
Mindless, violent tragedy, cry
“NO NEVER ANYMORE”.

In every heart and every soul
across the USA.
An evil darkness descended,
stays with us till this day.
T’was only sixty years or so
that Hitler’s crimes abhorred.
We promised then, “NO NOT AGAIN,
NOT EVER, ANYMORE”.

We lost so many things that day,
it’s one we’ll not forget.
Heroes came from all around
with all they have, abet.
People from around the world
stood by us at this time.
No human soul with conscience
could understand this crime.

Lamenting all those heroes
who’s hearts are heavy still.
Their valor and their bravery
not let their spirit kill.
To each and all who helped that day,
Ground Zero, nations all.
We thank you for your help and pray
for those who heard our call.

Like tradegies of all terror
from past, to evermore.
It’s time we say out loud and clear,
“NO NEVER, NEVER MORE”.
For every man and woman,
child and family.
This dark part within our hearts
pray for their gallantry.

We all of us are heroes,
we all must strive for peace.
Tattoo this saying on your soul,
at your peril if ignored;

Although I just had a fight with him the night before, you picked up on the color yellow (the color in our main living room), which signified warmth. I will be with you another year on Sirius Stars 102 and XM 155, so go buy those radios, and if you already have them, keep listening, because I’m not going anywhere. How could I ever leave my extended family, the reason to get my backside up in the moring and forget those little aches and pains we all get.

And you, too, Mindy and Sheila G … my sisters from another mother! And, everyone else — I wish you all the joy that the Universe can shine on you. All the health one body can absorb. All the laugther and smiles your face can handle and the sounds of the chuckles of children as they giggle with glee on Xmas Day and any other Holiday you celebrate.

I’d also like to send a special thank you and God Bless you to my family, Chris, Carl, Jackie, Angela (she’s the one we have to thank for booking everyone so perfectly). And to my brothers and their wives, Charles (my twin, only 4 years older) and Cindy, Charlie’s new wife Cindy.

To my grandchildren, who are the true reason God has blessed me with a second chance at good health, for that I am certain. To my oldest and first grandson Taylor, God Bless and Merry Xmas, and to his baby bro Tommy, my little munchkino. I love your genius and your kindness. You make grandma look like a doe-doe at a computer and you’re only 6!

Merry Xmas to MY GIRLS, Charlotte and Catie Grace! I only let Angela and Carl raise them and feed and shelter them, but they are MINE. Don’t worry, people, my daughter-in-law and son I won’t get angry at me — I say this to them all the time!

My grandchildren are best gifts every and make my life Xmas everyday! Charlotte and Catie and both blessed and  hindered with my abilities. That is the real reason I call them MY GIRLS  We get each other and don’t need words. I love you little ladies more than life itself, and I’ll be here to help you learn how to cope with the world when the world sometimes gives you a headache  – especially when you pick up the anger and the anxiety of those around you. Momma Mary, as Catie refers to me, will be here to guide you along your journey as long as God wants.

Also, Merry 1st Christmas in heaven to my father, Michael Rene Saliba, whom I know is standing right beside me as I say Merry Xmas to everyone, and who I know gave me the strength and stamina to shovel the snow the way I did and hadn’t been able to do in over 15 years.

Thank you, Daddy, for infusing me with your tremendous strength. I love you forever and I will go see your tree at home the way you wanted all of us to do as soon as we came into the house. God bless you, Mommy. It’s hard to say Merry Xmas to you because I know your heart it broken and I know you don’t have a computer.

And  Merry Xmas to my bosses at Sirius — Mel, Scott, and Jeremy, and my everyday gift of a supervisor Theresa Carson, who loves Angels On Call as much as I do. And to her mom, Anne L., and her dad, who are now my extended family. Happy Holidays to all your family!
